Knitting Oil Additive
SANCOAT VP1
SANCOAT VP1 is an ester based additive package with excellent antiwear, corrosion protection and oxidation characteristics. SANCOAT VP1 gives very good scour-ability that is wash-ability. The treat level is controlled by final Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C of the product.
The Primary Application of SANCOAT VP1 is in Antiwear Knitting Oils.
Properties & Performance
Higher the Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C higher is the dosage of the additive required. For example, for SN 70 Group II, the dosage can be 10 % v/v level.
The finished product at particular level of additive dosing should give good wash-ability. If the wash-ability at 12.5 % level is not satisfactory, it concludes that the oil is contaminated and thus not suitable for knitting oil blend.
For Kinematic Viscosity of 32 to 40 cST, the dosing of 12.5 % of SANCOAT VP1. 12.5 % of the additive in a good quality oil can be used to run Heavy-Duty Knitting operation.
Caution: SANCOAT VP1 should not be used with any other additive because it can lead to dis-satisfactory performance.
Best results are obtained at 12.5 % level in white 70, with colour less than 0.5.
Note: In many cases it is found that knitting oil shows slight separation in barrel if kept standing overnight. This phenomenon is not observed at the laboratory scale. As a solution to this concern, 0.015 % light coloured Oleic Acid is to be added in the Knitting Oil Formulation.
But care has to be taken regarding addition of excess Oleic Acid as it can degrade the wash-ability of the formulation.
Note: Do not heat above 60OC
